The Falun World Heritage Site consists of three parts: the industrial landscape, the town and the mining village. During the day we get to take part in cultural environments, beautiful nature and historic gardens, cultural reserves and visits to the Larsson family in Sundborn and to the Linnaeus couple at Svedens gård. We have lunch at one of the mountain farms that stood as a model farm in the 18th century and where the baroque garden is still preserved today and is a destination in itself.
We get a tour of the Carl Larsson farm and visit the art gallery Kvarnen in Sundborn where this summer’s exhibition is based on the circle of friends around Carl and Karin Larsson. At the mountain manor where Carl Linneaus, later ennobled von Linné, married Sara Lisa Moraea, we get to taste herbs and vegetables in the restored garden and a tour of the cottage where the wedding party was held in 1739. History reaches us along promenades and beaches lined with slag and the remnants of centuries of smelting.
